Where childhood is wild, muddy, and deeply loved.
Rooted in nature,
guided by courage
Sisu Outdoor School is in Redmond, Washington.
Rooted in the Finnish concept of sisu—quiet courage, resilience, and heart—we believe children thrive when they are given time, trust, and space outdoors.
Our days unfold in the forest and meadows through child-led play, seasonal rhythms, and meaningful connection to place. From our youngest preschoolers to our older students, we hike, explore, wonder, get muddy, and learn together—rain or shine. With experienced teachers and a strong commitment to safety, we support children as they build confidence, empathy, and a lifelong relationship with the natural world.
Shaped by the Seasons
At Sisu, our days are shaped by the seasons, the weather, and the children themselves—from our youngest preschoolers to our older students. We move together through outdoor play, exploration, meals, and rest, returning to familiar rhythms that create a sense of safety, belonging, and joy for every age.
Because outdoors is the best classroom
